I'm Marley and I'm special. There's no dog just like me. I am short, black, adopted, Chinese, living with an American in India. When my first family in China moved to the US and didn't return, Dad looked for someone to adopt me. I was almost three at the time. Little did they know that Lady had asked God for a black and tan dachshund just two weeks earlier, but didn't tell anybody else. So, when his friends told Lady about me needing a home she didn't hesitate, even though I lived three hours away. That was May 20, 2004 and we have been together ever since. We celebrate my "Gotcha Day," and my birthday on May 20 each year. Every year, she celebrates me and thanks God for sending me to her. We spent three years together in China. Chinese is my first language, but I also understand English, Korean, and Hindi. I a very well educated. I would go with Lady to many schools. When she taught kindergarten, I was there. When she taught at the college, I was there. When she trained teachers in rural areas, I went along. On my blog, I have chronicled many of my adventures. In China, we walked to markets, temples, and through rice paddies. I rode on buses, in cars, and bicycle rickshaws.
In 2007, we moved to India. That was my first plane ride. In India I have had to learn to live with street dogs, buffalo piles, monkeys, and not being allowed to go everywhere with Lady. Thank goodness they have rice and noodles here. After all, I am Chinese.
We've been living in north India for two and a half years now. On my blog, I share about life in Asia, and my adventures. Sometimes I get to go with Lady to rural areas, but we have a lot going on right here in our 'hood. When Lady has a trip where I can't go, I go hang out at the Children's Home, with the other kids whose moms can't take care of them. Often, the kids come to my house. Lady and I have parties for them for all the holidays. We also have the neighborhood girls come over every Saturday for stories and crafts. I am special. There's no dog just like me. I'm Marley.
