Hi there, my name is Caro and I am the human voice of Austin a five year old tuxedo rescue moggie.
I started blogging in March 2008 and by then Austin had been with me about four months. The purpose of the blog was unclear at the start. I was interested in writing humorous pieces and it so happened that Austin's arrival and settling down period caused some amusement, so writing about the minutiae of day to day life with him became a habit quite quickly.
Austin was a rescue cat and I got him from the RSPCA in Colwyn, North Wales. I actually went to get a dog, but made a mistake ... and as it turned out it was a serendipitous mistake .. when I saw him climbing up the glass cage at the end of a long line of cats waiting for adoption. His sad little face stole my heart!
He was named Austin by the staff at the centre because he had been found inside a car engine. He had quite a serious injury to his hip. However, the vet mended him very well and all that is left to show is a boney lump on his back at the top of his nearside back leg. And as I have said on the blog I took him home because he told me to!
He is a one person cat and I am the one person he chose, which suits me fine. He is not a cat for cuddles and hates being picked up, but when the mood takes him he is very affectionate and likes to keep close, especially in the morning and last thing at night. Those are our times! He talks a lot and as he thinks I'm quite slow on the uptake, he employs every linguistic device at his disposal to try and communicate his innermost thoughts. If that fails then it is the paw of doom!
First picture I took of Austin. He was between 6 and 10 months.
The other main protagonist in this blog is Tigger. Austin brought him home one day about four years ago and he has been visiting regularly ever since.
They play together and scrap a lot. Tigger eats Austin's food. I have no idea where he comes from, but am sure he has at least three places he goes to as he is now getting very fat!
