Today we're pleased to introduce you to Dolly the Doxie!
I adopted my Doxie mix Dolly a little over two years ago. I had been out of work for some time, was getting very lonely with just my old cat for company, when my husband and I found her picture on Petfinder. It was the day after our last cat passed away. She was at a local shelter called Wright-Way Rescue. We had to wait seven weeks before she was healthy enough to come home at three months old. I had been wanting a dog for years to go on walks with me to the park because every time I came home from a walk the first thing I would say was "I want a dog to keep me company on my walks." Well that is what "The Adventures of Dolly the Doxie" are about. Our adventures together and how she has changed my life since I adopted her.
I came to the realization about how much my life was changing one day after spending the morning at the park with other dogs and their owners that she had started playing with. I realized that I was making friends, meeting neighbors in my community, even making connections for finding work, in a neighborhood I had lived in for 19 years where I had never known a neighbor. Fast forward a year or so to a social media internship I was doing at Bobbi Panter Pet Products where I first started writing blogs. After that ended I was ready to start my own about Dolly and me. Our blog is story based, I try to keep the posts short but its hard for me to do. I've always loved to write and it has been very rewarding hearing from people who have read them and enjoy what I have written.
I am still pretty new to blogging and look at other blogs a lot to get ideas on what to incorporate on mine. I have so many ideas on what to write about in addition to Dolly's and mine regular adventures. I have begun writing a series on the Dogs of Portage Park about all of her friends she has met, their owners and their own heartwarming stories and antics together. I intend for my blog to be humorous because it is written in her voice but I also want to cover products and issues that I have come across. Dolly is a very sweet, loving dog but has a stubborn streak longer then her so she is always a challenge for me. I hope everyone will give us a chance and follow "The Adventures of Dolly the Doxie."
