Recently, I received an EzyDog Doggy Flotation Device to review. They also call it a DFD for short, but basically it is a life jacket for dogs.
Those of you who know me well know I’m not a big swimmer. With that said, I do have a mean doggie paddle and I am a fast swimmer when trying to get to the shore (I have to be … I’m a Phelps and all … hehehe). Even though I can swim, I am not a Lab that loves to hang out in deep water, swim laps, and chase floating toys. I high tail it to the edge of the pool or to a stationary surface such as my Dad’s shoulders.
Being the brave pup I am, I was game to try out their product. I decided I wanted to go to a pool so I asked my pal Charlie (he was my foster brother but got his forever home) if I could come hang out with him and test out the vest. He said “Sure, come on over!”
I received a yellow EzyDog doggy flotation vest. I have to say, it is very sharp and well made. It has more floating material than other vests I have tested before so more of me stayed above the water. I thought that was a great feature! It also kept me in a natural swimming position and the straps didn’t sit close too my legs, which would have made it harder for me to swim.
Mom said the straps were easy to adjust and it was easy to take off and on quickly. Another neat feature was that it has a grab handle so Dad could just pick me out of the pool by the vest. It also has a D-ring that your rents can use to put a leash on you quickly without removing the vest.
For those inquiring minds, I wore a size XS in the vest. For dogs smaller than me, they have another life jacket called the Micro DFD for dogs under 15 pounds. In addition to yellow, the vests come in red, pink, and even camo for you hunting dogs!
While I was at Charlie’s house trying out the life jacket, his Mom set up a kiddie pool for us to play in as well. I LOVE kiddie pools! I know, the life jacket was overkill, but I have to show you some photos of me modeling the DFD in the baby pool. You can never be too safe when it comes to water safety! Hehehe. If you take your dog on your boat or even near the water, we highly recommend the EzyDog DFD product line. Don’t forget, us dogs need to be safe as well!
Your pal,
Preston
